Show mode & Edit mode

ShowTrak Server always runs in one of two modes. The mode you are in decides whether you are simply watching your devices or actively making changes. You switch between them with the SHOW and EDIT buttons in the bottom‑left corner of the window.

The Server starts in Show mode every time you open it, so it is safe to leave running during a performance.

Show mode

Show mode is the default view, it is read‑only, so you cannot accidentally move, rename, or delete anything when in show.

In Show mode you can:

  • See every client, dummy client, and monitoring target with its live status
  • Watch vitals such as CPU and memory usage update in real time
  • Double‑click a client to open its read‑only info panel (details, USB devices, network interfaces, uptime)
  • Open the Alerts tray to review past alerts
  • Select clients and run scripts or Wake‑on‑LAN (your normal show operations)

In Show mode the DISCOVER area (devices waiting to be adopted) is hidden, and tiles cannot be dragged between groups.

Edit mode

Edit mode is where you build and change your setup. Switch to it whenever you need to add, configure, or remove things.

In Edit mode you can:

  • Adopt newly discovered ShowTrak Clients from the DISCOVER area
  • Create dummy clients and monitoring targets
  • Edit any tile by clicking its gear icon (nickname, group, settings, and more)
  • Drag and drop tiles to move them between groups or reorder them
  • Delete clients, dummy clients, and monitoring targets
  • Create and manage groups and alerts

Switching modes

  1. Look at the bottom‑left corner of the window.
  2. Click SHOW to monitor, or EDIT to make changes.
  3. The active mode is highlighted so you always know where you are.
