Troubleshooting & FAQ

Clients aren’t showing up

  • Make sure the ShowTrak Client is running on the target PCs
  • Confirm Server and Clients are on the same LAN/VLAN
  • Check Windows Firewall on both sides; allow local network traffic
  • Restart the Client service/app on the target PC

Can’t adopt a client

  • Ensure only one Server instance is running
  • Wait a minute; newly started clients announce themselves periodically
  • Close and reopen the Adoption page

Wake‑on‑LAN doesn’t work

  • Verify WOL is enabled in the client PC’s BIOS and network adapter settings
  • Ensure the MAC address is correct and the machine has power (S5 may vary by model)
  • Some switches/VLANs block broadcast; try unicast WOL if supported or keep on same switch

Scripts fail on some machines

  • Test on a single client first and verify required permissions
  • Keep script assets small and paths relative to the script folder
  • Check the execution log/output in the Server UI
